During spring (September – November) average temperatures in Hobart range from 7 – 17°C (46 – 62°F). This is the wettest time of year (168.7mm / 6.6″), so rug up and make sure to bring an umbrella.

Getting there

The Tasmanian Redline Airporter bus will take you into Hobart city and drop you at your hotel or motel. You can also book this airport shuttle bus to pick you up and take you to the airport when you’re ready to leave – just make a booking more than two hours before you want to be picked up. Most hotels will be happy to make the booking for you. The taxi rank is located directly out the front of the Hobart Airport building. If you need a mini-van or special taxi please ask one of the curbside assistants who will radio one through for you. If there are no taxis available, phone numbers for the major taxi companies are listed inside the terminal near the baggage carousels.

Time zone

The time zone for Hobart is AEDT (Australian Eastern Daylight Time) 10 hours ahead of GMT +1 hour for Daylight Saving Time.

Dress code

Dress for all conference sessions and social events is smart casual. Nights will be cold, so make sure you rug up if you want even a chance to glimpse the Aurora Australis.


It is recommended that you purchase comprehensive travel insurance to cover the duration of your visit to Tasmania and to protect you against cancellation charges, loss or damage to your luggage and personal effects, loss of cash and medical expenses.
