Arabinda Kumar Rath
Dr. Arabinda Kumar Rath obtained Post-Doctoral training in Medical Physics from Lund University, Sweden and Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA after completing Post Graduate Program in Radiological Physics (DRP) from Bhabha Atomic Research Centre in 1986 and Ph.D in Physics from Institute of Physics (IOP), Bhubaneswar under Utkal University in 1996. Dr Rath held senior Academic, Clinical and Administrative positions in Institutes of repute in Government Sector like Kidwai Memorial Institute Of Oncology, Bengaluru and later in corporate sector in Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, New Delhi, since 1989. Dr Rath started India’s first Stereotactic Radiosurgey (SRS) in 1996 and first Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy (IMRT) treatment in 2001.
Dr Rath has been teaching Post Graduate Medical Students for MD (Radiotherapy), MD (Nuclear Medicine) and MD/DNB (Radiology) since 1989. He has been a PhD Guide, Assessor and Review Committee Member in several Institutes including AIIMS, New Delhi. He published more than 60 publications in National and International journals. Dr Rath has visited more than 40 countries as part of the academic and scientific activities initially for training, conference participation and fellowships and later as invited and visiting faculty representing India. His current area of interest is Particle Radiotherapy and he has edited the book “PARTICLE RADIOTHERAPY – Emerging Technology for Treatment of Cancer” published by Springer in 2016.
