Dr Elisabeth Steiner is the Chief Physicist at the Institute for Radiation Oncology and Radiotherapy at the Landesklinikum Wiener Neustadt in Austria. She is board certified by the ÖGMP (Austrian Society for Medical Physics) and completed her clinical training at the Department of Radiation Oncology at the Vienna General Hospital (AKH). In 2015 she obtained a PhD in Medical Physics from the Medical University of Vienna. Her research interests are image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT), intrafraction motion management strategies for different tumour sites (breast, lung, prostate, head and neck) and X-ray imaging dose. Dr Steiner worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Sydney’s ACRF Image X Institute from 2016 to 2019 and developed audiovisual biofeedback and surface imaging technologies for regular breathing and deep inspiration breath hold guidance. In her new role she is currently working on the clinical implementation of surface guided radiation therapy, gated treatments and intrafraction motion monitoring.
