M. Saiful Huq
M. Saiful Huq, PhD, is the Director of Medical Physics at the Department of Radiation Oncology at UPMC Cancer Center and Professor of Radiation Oncology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. Dr. Huq leads the scientific activities of a large group of medical physicists and directs the medical physics operations of 24 cancer centers located in the USA and internationally. He is an oral board examiner for the American Board of Radiology (ABR), is certified by the ABR and has published over 130 peer-reviewed manuscripts.
Dr. Huq is a Fellow of the British Institute of Physics and the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM). He is a recipient of AAPM’s Farrington Daniels Award, the “Distinguished Service Award” given by the ABR and the “Distinguished Medical Physicist Award” given by the Indo American Society of Medical Physicists.
Currently, Dr Huq is the Chair of AAPM Therapy Physics Committee and Task Group 100; and Vice Chair of AAPM Science Council. He has served on numerous AAPM Task Groups, notably TG51. As an IAEA expert he has co-authored IAEA TRS398 and TRS483 Codes of Practice, which provide guidance to the worldwide radiotherapy community regarding various aspects of cancer therapy using external beam radiation.
